Ethereum Classic (ETC) komt naar Coinbase

Coinbase gaat het kopen en verkopen van Ethereum Classic (ETC) ondersteunen. Deze plannen worden komende maanden uitgerold. De koers van de munt reageerde positief op het nieuws.

Ethereum Classic

ETC is een hard fork van ethereum. De mensen achter de fork zijn het niet eens met de weg die het origineel is ingeslagen. Zij besloten daarom dus verder te gaan als een eigen chain. Programmeurs van Coinbase zijn op dit moment bezig met het programmeerwerk om Ethereum Classic te ondersteunen. Het uitrollen van ondersteuning voor cryptomunten op Coinbase gaat volgens een vast stappenplan.

De stappen volgens de blogpost van Coinbase:

1. _{An internal asset selection committee uses our Digital Asset Framework to make an initial recommendation of which new asset to add to GDAX. As part of this process, the committee will conduct a legal and risk assessment of the proposed asset.}
2. _{If the asset passes by the legal and risk review, the recommended asset is presented to the Coinbase executive team for approval.}
3. _{If approved by the executive team, the asset selection committee promptly announces which new asset will be added to our platform. This decision is announced both internally and to the public via our blog and Twitter.}
4. _{The engineering team begins the technical integration needed to support the new asset. Customers can expect to see public-facing APIs and other signs that the asset is being added.}
5. _{An announcement is made via our blog and Twitter when we begin final testing of the technical integration.}
6. _{An announcement is made via our blog and Twitter when the integration is complete and we are ready to allow deposits of the asset. We will always allow at least 24 hours of deposits before opening an order book for a new asset.}
7. _{After evaluating factors such as liquidity, price stability, and other market health metrics, the internal asset selection committee may choose to add the asset to the Coinbase platform.}

We zijn nu dus bij stap vier en het kan nog maanden duren voordat de coin daadwerkelijk te verhandelen is op het platform. Ondanks dat reageerde de koers van de cryptomunt toch positief: volgens CoinMarketCap steeg de koers vandaag al met ruim 20%.

Coinbase

Coinbase is druk bezig met het uitbouwen van hun imperium. Eerder maakte ze al bekend hun diensten aan te gaan bieden in Japan. De Amerikanen bieden op dit moment bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC) en bitcoin cash (BCH) aan. Daar komt Ethereum Classic dus nog bij.
